I had a TRD exhaust put on my new 2021 Tundra. Any time on cold start up, or if the exhaust tip is bumped there’s a loud metallic pop. Everything looks to be installed correctly. The dealership took a look at it and also couldn’t find anything wrong. Curious if anyone else has had this same issue.

post some pics of the tailpipes. sounds like it is rubbing/hitting somewhere. Not really much in the way, maybe the shackle or leaf springs?

It doesn’t look like it’s hitting/rubbing anything. When the pipes are warm it doesn't happen, only when everything is cooled down.

only other thought is the connection of tailpipes to mufflers. Maybe it is not fully seated or tight enough. If there is a metallic pop sound, then there is probably play and metal to metal contact somewhere.

You may want to give the tailpipes a good hard shake and see if there is any noise. There should not be. There is actually a pretty good amount of free play in the hangers and rubber exhaust components. It may look ok, but the exhaust will move (like in a cold start) and things could be touching somewhere during movement, or like I said, maybe one of the connections has play and is not tight.

It's the popping of the heat shields on cool down. I chased this noise for weeks and that's what I identified. Normal.

more than I can list here
Give Keith Carty from Dirty Deeds Industries a call at 760-877-4234 and run this past him. He can probably identify the issue for you.

My 2020 Pro does the same thing. Even when I have not driven lately. I figure its just saying hello to me and got over it.
