    Howdy,

I had all but given up on K&N oil type filters but bought the TRD version during the 40% off sale. Figured easy to off it if no improvement.

Well substantial improvement for my Tundra! I thought mine was a little sluggish off the line but it's a truck so.... Now it hops right up! Mileage was creeping up on first trips... 15.8 in cross town stop and go traffic..

I had a K&N rejuvenate a 4Runner once but other times a disappointment and MAF foulers...

Maybe with dual exhaust mine has...

I don't know but a positive experience and will keep it!

    Greg

What is this 40% sale you speak of? I'd love to get 40% off a TRD sway bar.

Get a pedal commander. That’ll also add to you enjoyment.

It was a one day only sale for TRD 40th anniversary last week.

Yep one day of agonizing over "should I get THIS or THAT??!!" :D I got the TRD Pro skid plate, TRD shift know and aforementioned filter. ALMOST got the TRD CAI but seemed to be a consensus it doesn't do much and the filter provides a great deal of that...

After 40 years of buying cars and trucks I must say I can never predict how one item will effect over all performance. As I said I was dubious of the filter being worth it but went for it and am quite happy! A K&N in my Tacoma's did nothing. I a 4Runner made it a beast! I don't get it...

I was looking at Pedal Commander type items for my Tacoma, actually add ons that effected shift point. One thing I disliked about my Tacoma was a shift point exactly at rpms that equaled 35mph so in normal city driving it couldn't make up it's mind!

I'll have to see about PC! Thanks,

    Greg!

I ordered the CAI and I might end up posting it up on the For Sale section, passing the savings to another member. I'll post some pics when I receive it.

I just did the same thing with similar results. Not a huge improvement but worth the money I think 41B4BAB0-4F34-4DD9-A7DE-F7E90C16DB0D.jpg

So many great characters - "That was Eric Stratton, rush chairman, he's damn glad to meet you!" That and Blazing Saddles never seem to get old!

I got the TRD CAI for $255 during the sale. Wouldn’t have paid any more than that, as it’s just the filter and airflow accelerator with a new top. But I do like the look of it when i open my hood.

The K&N is on the short list of things I need to buy (had one on my last Tundra for close to 15 years, cleaned it a few times, reoiled, worked great). Curious about what is different with the TRD, (Amazon says it doesn't fit my Limited) and I need to find out if there is any improvement over the K&N worth the extra bucks, before I order another K&N. Obviously you folks are buying the TRD, so unless it's the sale price making it a better deal, there must be another reason to go with it over K&N.

Get the airflow accelerator too. Its cheap. That and the filter are all you really need to duplicate the full system.
