I think my transmission is bad in my 2007 tundra 5.7. I can’t find no one to rebuild it.I was wondering if I can put a used 2008 or above in it.The salvage yards are saying I can only put a2007in it.And they way more money and have way more miles than the 2008 or above. They both have the AB60E.Can someone please help.

Why do you believe your transmission needs to be replaced?

Because it’s slipping between gears.Especially between 1st and 2nd.And it makes a bump or jerk when it goes into the gear.I had 2 codes coming up p2714 and 0751.I had a rear output shaft seal leak.I got that fixed and got the transmission serviced but it still doing the same thing. One code was saying shift solenoid and the other was saying pressure control solenoid.I can’t find no one that will work on a tundra transmission

These are codes specific to solenoids. If you don't want to mess around with it too much, you could simply replace the entire valve body. A Toyota dealership should be able to do this for you. A transmission shop should also be able to do this for you. The places you have called that don't want to do the work likely aren't qualified to. A valve body is about $800. The labor to remove and replace it should be about the same plus or minus a few hundred dollars.

Also who serviced your transmission? What kind of servicing did they do?

Toyota serviced it.I think all they did was drain and add fluid. They won’t work on them either. They won’t change solenoids. They only will replace with a remanufactured one.

What's your approximate location? Replacing solenoids does not require the removal of the transmission, so you would stand to save a lot of time and money by not replacing the trans.

Toyota won’t service the transmission. If it’s bad, they only replace. I had some of the same symptoms and a code for solonoid d and they replaced it in my 2010. Like said above, look for a transmission shop. Even an aamco. Check reviews.

Worst nightmare for me. I’m a standard transmission guy. Good luck, there has to be a
competent transmission shop near you with modern experience. No reason to jump
to the conclusion of replacement first.

I drained and refilled today. Did it twice. So far no codes after 25 miles.

My next option would be to replace the solenoid D. I also have the p2714 code. Doing this is much cheaper than a whole trans replacement. Hardest part seems to be crawling under if you don’t have a lift; and refilling the fluid as the fill port is hard to pour into without a pump.

    Way to go! Great Idea!!!

I used a funnel hung under the hood with hose running down by the brake booster into the fill plug
