Transmission temp goes from 0 to normal operating temp back down after accelerating. Hybrid issue?

    Hey Guys,

I have a 23 TRD pro on 35's. I'm in a colder climate. Averaging minus 15 C when this is happening. I'm at 4000km on the odometer.

I start the truck for about 5 or more minutes head out. There's a speed change from 50 to 80 km and as I accelerate the transmission temp goes from not registering a temp to shooting up to normal operating temp once at 80km it drops down to not registering a temp on the dash. then heats up normally after a few minutes and stays there.

    This has happened twice now.

I also have abysmal mileage. Best I've got is 16 liters per 100. That was once. My normal average I've had 18 to 20 liters per 100. I drive mostly on the highway as well 110 to 120 km per hour. I've notice the hybrid system is rarely ever coming on. It will be the tiniest little blue bar and disappear after a few seconds.

Has anyone else experienced this? I leaning towards my hybrid system is a massive paper weight that the engine is trying to move as it wont spin itself leading to my terrible gas mileage and the increase of the transmission temps heating up.

I'm not a mechanic but something seems extremely wrong.

Hey the gas mileage seems a bit off but normally the hybrid system is off during highway. Sometimes it will come on for a sec if your going downhill or something. In regards of being a paper weight. The hybrid system is over 500lbs and the trd pro is on more aggressive/bigger tires with small lift. All of that can affect mileage.

just my .02, but I don't think adding big super heavy tires like that is smart on a hybrid system not designed for it.

eitherway, good luck with your rig
