I have a 22 limited with 35,000 miles. I have noticed when driving on interstate and I go to give it extra gas to pass, I feel the truck/transmission shift really hard. Its not like I'm driving the truck hard. I'm only talking about going from 75-85 to pass. This is the only time it does this. Anyon else have this problem. Is it something I should have looked at. TY

Hard or fast? Is the “hard” shift on the downshift to pass or shifting back up?

That’s called passing gear. If you mash the throttle, the transmission is supposed to downshift fast to keep up with the throttle input. Ide be more concerned if you pressed the gas and it took a long time to shift. That’s bad. Fast downshifts are a good thing. The faster it shifts, the less heat is produced at the clutch packs.

Ok I understand what you're saying but it just downshifts harder than any other truck I have ever owned. Its almost like a really hard jerk and popping sound at the same time. It must be nothing because it never does it any other time. TY for your time.

Did you just get the truck? Or have you had it since new and something has changed?

I have had the truck since 20,000 miles, I can't remember when it started as I don't drive on interstate very often, but it has been doing it for a while.

40K is about the time they recommend a transmission service. It looks pretty straightforward.

My 22 did the same thing, even after 40k miles and a transmission service. It would clunk hard while downshifting on the thruway. When I brought it up to the dealer they told me it’s normal because it’s jumping a few gears . My 24 does not do this at all.
