I’ve read several threads about Toyota Tundra’s transmission’s overheating with slight road inclines and severe inclines on freeway or off-roading. I have owned three tundras over several years and all three have done this. It is annoying and I have always had my trucks serviced by Toyota. Their response is always nothing is wrong and “nothing to see here.” That is Toyotas response to everything about their vehicles. Toyota has an honesty and responsibility issue. As a third time owner of new vehicles I see the trend. There are many things I love about my trucks but unfortunately their integrity is flawed and Toyota is losing me.

I had a new cooler and mount sitting in my garage for a month or so. My scangauage was routinely displaying trans temps of 230+ degrees with regular driving. We went to the lake and visited a property that was on the top of the mountain - winding and slow spped. Got tot he top and smelled the engine........scangauage was 250+. I never had the alarm go off, but I got home from that trip and immediately installed the cooler. Since then I haven't seen a temperature above 190 degrees. It's well worth the investment and time in my opinion, esepcially if you want to maximize the life of the truck.

My 2019 (no factory cooler) never overheated on road inclines, even when towing my 8000# camper.

inread it as that as well.

That said, I will change my transmission fluid every 50k (early) and will reconsider an install after my extended warranty ends at 100k.

Some don't clean the dead bugs and dirt from their condenser and radiator, then they question why the drivetrain gets hot.
