Was wondering on a 2011 5.7 is it safer to flush transmission oil at high mileage than replacing the transmission filter? I heard that once the filter is replaced it could cause problems down the road.

2010 4.6, I had mine flushed at around 100k factory fluid. Don't remember exact, cashier put down incorrect miles on the invoice. Reason I got her done was washboard feeling around 35-40mph and at the moment of downshifting.

No problems afterwards. Been about 60k miles already since flush. Time for another one?

Replacing the filter doesn't cause problems at all. It's just usually not necessary. Power flushing at a dealer or service center is usually not a good idea and can cause issues afterwards. Especially on a high mileage transmission. Manual flush or drain and fill is your best friend. Plenty of threads for both methods on here. Should be able to find with search. I prefer a manual flush for when I first change the fluid on a new to me vehicle. That way I can get most of it out and I know exactly what I have. Then drain and fills regularly after that.
