I was under the truck yesterday checking on things as I do periodically and noticed what appears to be oil on this metal shield that covers where the drive shaft goes into the transmission. I am assuming I have a bad seal and need to replace it. Does anyone know what this part is actually called? And how hard of a job / expensive it is to do myself?

Just call your local Toyota parts department. You can also check online for the correct Toyota part number.
