i recently had my fluids replaced.
    diff, tranny, oil......

    not flushed.
and two days after i was off road in my normal manner an the tranny started to heat up quickly in 4 Hi. and it has never done this before.

the mechanic who's a toyota specialist claims he did everything right.
and couldn't have shorted me on fluid.....

once it over heated in 4 lo when i was driving too long in 4lo.

but never since. including last weekend.

some pitches were steep but not horrible.
i was wondering if maybe a bit low and the steep pitches caused it to seem low and run hot.....

    any ideas?

Did the idiot light come on, and something telling you it was to hot or do you have a scan gauge?

Your location has been hot lately, but nothing like the guys out in AZ and CA in the summer.

Have you tried to pin the thermostat open on the trans? If it still gets hot after that, you might have a transmission going out.

What kind of work has it done? Heat is usually generated by excessive slipping. Wonder if your torque converter is going bad?

How much Toyota Transmission Fluid did the mechanic use? And yes, did he pin the thermostat open when the transmission got to 115F before checking the fluid level with the vehicle running?
