Just convinced the wife to spend a couple days in Moab on our way to Colorado next summer. Looking for recommendations on must see / do trails in the area.

So far, these are on my radar -

    Potash Ponds / Shafer switchbacks
    Fins and Things
    Long Canyon
    Gemini Bridges
    Onion Creek

What am I missing? We will be there in the heat of the summer so trails that go by the river or into the mountains earn bonus points.

    ETA more trails to consider:
Willow Springs Rd into Arches NP
    Hells Revenge
    Poison Spider Mesa
    Hurrah Pass to Chicken Corners
    Moab Rim
    Top of the World?

    Trails to avoid:
    Rusty Nail
    Metal Masher
    Pritchett Canyon
    Behind the Rocks
    Steel Bender
    Cliffhanger
    Kane Creek Canyon

    Land Cruiser or Tundra?

Great question. We will be in the Tundra. Bigger tires, more clearance, and most importantly enough room to fit all our crap to spend 10 days away from home. I am going to take the Crusier one year to hit Black Bear Pass.

    Have a rear locker?

Moab Rim is amazing. The only hard part is the Z Turn IMO.

Poison Spyder Mesa is another trail to look at. Been a few years since I've been there (12 years).

Stay off: Rusty Nail, metal masher, Pritchett, Behind the rocks..to name a few.

Potato salad hill is a good time on the weekends....for watching.

    No locker yet.

I’ll take a look at both of these - appreciate it.

10-4. I’ve heard a locker is a must for Hells Revenge and I’m not sure I have the clearance given the long wheel base.

A locker is a good idea. Your wheel base is fine. Stay off escalator unless you like living dangerously.

I have a 10k lb winch but without another capable vehicle I’m not sure it’s useful in this terrain.

    Anyone done Chicken Corners?

Top of the World should be doable, I think. Starts off at the river and climbs up. Stay to the right when it forks and come back down the way you came instead of doing the loop.

Forgot about Kane Creek. That has a lot of water crossings and scenic areas (again, if I remember correctly).

You are probably right. It's been a while and Moab was ice cream runs for most of us except area 52, Behind the Rocks, and Pritchett (the old Pritchett before the entrance was ruined)

I would do hells revenge instead of fins n things if you're in that area and can only do one trail. Hells is very scenic and easy, fins is kind of meh imo

I took my LandCruiser through Black Bear years ago and squeaked through the tight point. Never have even thought about taking the Tundra before

We were there in April, but flew in.

We did Hell's Revenge in Kawasaki SXS's with a tour company. Wifey drove the second half and did really well, I was SO proud! :p:bananadance:

We did Schaefer Trail in the rental "Jeep"... Spoiler, it's not a jeep, and doesn't deserve to wear the name Jeep.

Not terribly hard, basically a fire road... with 500' drops everywhere you look. Wifey was not a fan.

How do you think this would do on Hells Revenge? 2” lift on 34” tires - skids and sliders.

I think you will do just fine. Remember the FX4 has a rear locker factory.

HR gets really busy, hella trail traffic. Something to consider especially if you’re gonna hit it late in the week.

My guess is you'd be good, probably scrape your rear bumper on some departures, and there's a few sections you may have to bypass from the Tundra's width.

Appreciate this - definitely on the list. If we’re staying in Moab - how much time would you think we should set aside for this? Is it a couple hours or more like half a day?

I’m saving up for one of your bumpers if you’d be kind enough to build me one so a little damage to the stock bumper sounds perfect. ;)
