    Hi! Thanks for welcoming me!
I recently started having problems with the trailer brake disconnect warning coming up on the dash of my truck.
Issues started after i replaced the brakes with new Dexter Self-adjusting units.
I wired them up the same as the old brakes. Plugged the lead into the truck and took a ride to test the system. The warning came on almost immediately. Wiggled the plug and it went away. I replaced the lead to the truck and the issue went away for a 400 mile trip. So I replaced the receptacle on the truck. Everything was fine for about 1200 miles. Then it came on again. Re-started the truck and the warning went away. I did not have the warning before the new brakes were installed. About 50K miles with no issues. The negative side of the brake wiring is tied to all the negative wires in a junction box and that connection is good. I read when the negative wire to the brakes should be directly attached to the trailer for ground (although it is through the junction box.) is that true. The trailer is wired like it was from the factory but that doesn’t make it right. Any help would be appreciated. Kinda wish I just replaced the shoes… Thanks John
