Trading in 4Runner for Sequoia?

My wife has a 2017 Sequoia, I have a 2018 Tundra. Her Tree definitely has less headroom than my Tundra, I can barely fit in with the seat all the way down. I'm not tall (5'10") and I have to worm my way in and out. Leg room is fine, adjustable seat takes care of that.

My wife had a 2013 Yukon XL (to replace her 2003 Suburban). She has always been a GM person and was not interested in anything Toyota had to offer even though I gently suggested that the Sequoia was a far superior vehicle.

She was getting sick of the unreliability and low power (it had that ridiculous 8-6-4 cylinder cutout for "economy" that was worthless). She finally told me one day that she hated to admit it but was open to test driving a Sequoia. She picked out a new 2017 when I was off on a motorcycle ride. She was ecstatic when she drove it home, could not believe how fantastic it was compared to the Yukon. She loved stomping on the gas and taking off (even drag raced a few rice rockets in town). She was over 70 when she got it so no kid behind the wheel.

A couple of things are head scratchers. Considered a tow vehicle to bring along a motor home for family trips and vacations but:

1) Has transmission oil temp gauge but no integral trailer brake controller (like my Tundra has).
2) Puny gas tank at 26 gallons. It desperately needs a 38 gallon tank like my Tundra has. Extend the wheelbase if necessary but put a larger gas tank in it.

Great car though, wife loves it and after driving it, inspired me to get my 2018 Tundra.

So my wife was driving the Sequoia one morning and leaving the neighborhood when she looked down then up in time to see someone's trash can sticking out in the road a tad too much. She hit it and damaged the passenger side head light along with the front side of the vehicle. Naturally, I wasn't happy about it but soon realized I would be able to replace the hideous stock headlights. Unfortunately, she didn't wanna spend Alpharex or Morimoto money on new ones.


I found some Amazon specials for around $290 shipped and they were completely plug n play. They're a surprisingly good fit and I was worried they wouldn't have a spot for the headlight washers (which we never use), but they did. I did leave the VLEDs in them but I may swap the halogens back in once I can see what the pattern looks like at night. The most important thing is the wife likes them.

Bulletproof has their 12" kit now for the '23 Sequoia.

 

Just me or does that lift make that hood look super long? Maybe it’s a wide angle camera lens or something.
