Anyone had one of these break ? Had one break today. I've had my 2020 SR5 Double Cab for about 3 weeks. Called Toyota there going to check/repair it in the morning. I asked if it was covered. They told me they had to look at it first and see what caused it to break. SMH..

You have to be careful when you’re cleaning the wheels. They are aluminum and not flexible rubber like a standard valve. So if you bump them to hard when cleaning the wheel you can crack them. Been there already, unfortunately haha.

And the sensor can easily be broken while dismounting/mounting a tire while doing a flat repair - I can understand them having to see it before giving you an answer

At toyota now. The service manager said there not covered said it will cost me $300 plus to get it replaced. Or $30 for rubber stem and ill have the air pressure light on. Sucks on a 2 week old truck. I told them to put the rubber stem on. Getting aftermarket wheels soon. Deal with it then. Don't think the spare has a sensor to swap .. ill find out soon.

Yea definitely told them thats not gonna happen. Ya would think that the spare had one. NOT. Told them to just put a rubber stem on it. And since i only had the truck 3 weeks it shouldn't have been a warranty issue. Shouldve just been replace it and call it a day ....wont be going back to Sun Toyota. Aftermarket wheels coming soon...

Good for you. I’d file a complaint with Toyota Corporate about a shitty dealer. That’s what I did with my Ford dealer. They didn’t like that I filed a complaint - the dealer GM called me to ask why I complained to Ford...he ate some crow that day!

The service kit usually consists of the valve core (nickel plated), valve cap, the rubber seals/grommets that seal the sensor in the valve stem hole in the wheel, and a washer or 2 if needed. You will absolutely need this if it doesn’t come with the sensor

Most of the $300 was probably parts. If you ever want it, you’ll have to eventually buy it when you get aftermarket wheels. There might be a cheaper aftermarket sensor though.

I think the dealer could’ve said they didn’t find any road damage and warrantied it.

There was no road damage. They could've easily taken care of it. They chose not to. But I agree. I'm going to have to buy it. Don't like seeing the indicator light on. Especially on a brand new truck. Ill do it when I have the aftermarket wheels installed. Think some aftermarkets come with sensors.

Yeah that what I was getting at. For such a small price, they could’ve told Toyota anything and warrantied it.

My radiator got a leak on my 18. Went to the dealer and they said they’ll look at it and if there was road damage then I’d have to pay. Kinda upset me, but I get it. If there was a stick in it then obviously it wasn’t Toyota’s fault. They put no damage found on the repair slip and covered it under warranty.

Aftermarket wheel and tire packages don’t come with sensors unless you buy all 4 sensors. Why not just buy one oem sensor and simply swap them into your aftermarket wheels? Oem are far better than aftermarket anyway.
