I wanted to contribute to the tpms confusion here that is Toyota sensors. I have a 2018 tundra. It came with stock steel wheels. I put on some alloy wheels and had tpms issues ever since. Dealership couldn't figure it out so I tried Americas tire. They got tpms sensors reprogrammed and working. Great! A week later, they stopped communicating, went back and had them do it again,, this time it lasted a month. I tried again and it lasted 1 day. I gave up and chose to ignore the dash light. Fast forward a year and i swapped out my head unit the other day. My headunit (which gets its information from the ecu) has the tpms sensor info. They read and work. but my dash says they are malfunctioning? What might I try to get them to read on the dash correctly?

Not sure if you got new sensors but Toyota steel wheel sensors should not be used with new alloys

I get that everyone says that but why exactly. Apparently my truck sees the sensors but the cluster gauge doesn't like what it sees. I verified the psi that my head unit was seeing. They work. I would buy new ones but its confusing that the old ones seem to work (for their part) I'm not a fan of wasting money needlessly, especially not at dealership markups.
