I have five full size wheels but only 4 TMPS. 4x4 shop is unsure if I can even have five sensors on there (or if that will mess up the system--my guess no).

Can anyone confirm that five sensors, four on the vehicle and one on the spare is possible?

Follow on question: could I/should I just ignore this? Is there anyway to have the light go off and just show me the pressure for the three tires that are currently spinning and have TPMS?

I'm not 100% positive but I think the truck will only read the 4 that are on the axles. For the 2020, you have to do the reset procedure and drive it after a tire rotation. Some of the earlier 4Runners would read the spare....our 2007 did.

Sorry not 100% on this but seems like I read somewhere that 10 sensors can be registered (2 x complete sets of 5). I just recently built up a full spare, used a Toyota TPMS sensor and mounted the spare during a 5 tire rotation. The tire out of rotation is not presently on the truck it is in the basement until need it for a road trip. TPMS error came on when I mounted the new spare on the truck / placed the other tire out of reach. All I had to do was do the reset/calibration process drive it a few miles and the truck brilliantly registered the new TPMS sensor ... some sort of Yota engineering magic fairy dust. Sooo....yes believe you can register at least 5 sensors. I don't know if the truck will tell me if I have a low tire pressure on the spare if the spare on board but I'm guessing it will. Our 06 Sequoia would tell us with a TPMS light if our full size spare was low. I recommend the Toyota TPMS sensors based upon how well it learned the new sensor. Sorry probably not the confirmation you seek but wanted to share my experience.

Put the spare in the bed and let some air out of it and see what it does after a day or 2. I'm curious as well.

Someone here will know I'm sure, but if it comes to it for the sake of the forum, I will roll the 130# spare up the stairs and lug it into truck bed lol. I can't remember what I read .. was it 2020 when the TPMS self-registration works where you didn't need a scan tool? Sorry OP if that's the case could need the scan tool for 2019.

    Lol. Yes the 2020 self-registers.

Awesome. I am in the same boat as OP and just ordered a TPMS for my full size spare.

So I'm wondering if anyone has noticed...once I reset, will the TPMS readout on the screen work with only three mounted sensors, or will it complain until all four are mounted and spinning?

I'm not sure if this helps BUT, on my 2016 Limited it tracked all 5. With a factory head unit it would only inform me of the 4 on the truck IIRC. I swapped my head unit out for a Kenwood one with a Maestro and there it was, a 5th wheel and sensor. I think to set the position of each, there is a process once you rotate them.
