Not that it really matters, other then me feeling better about venting. My '21 battery cables were getting really corroded. Apparently, Toyota had tightened the straps down enough to damage the battery. Now they are refusing to do a warranty replacement.

Sounds like the dealer ruined your battery, not Toyota.

Dealer shouldn't have ever had the battery out. My truck was port recalled before I ever got it for the steering column.

If it makes you feel any better, the factory battery lasted about as long as they do. 2021 would be needing a new battery about now regardless. OE batteries typically take a dump about year 3.

I'm more upset about Toyota not standing by with the warranty. I don't care about the cost so much. The battery is holding pretty well though. I'm one of those irritating consumers that will leave based off of poor customer service.

How did they ruin the battery? If they broke the post, or cracked the case, a few pictures to regional or corporate should get a response. You should probably replace the terminals if they were damaged, and maybe the cables if the corrosion was excessive. I have a couple of independent mechanics that I go to for any work. Both know to not touch my battery terminals.

Liberal use of these will help avoid future problems.

They tightened the battery holder too much and the battery is leaking. The cable ends are really corroded and need replacing. I'm at the Ford dealer looking at an F250.

Sounds like a good reason to get rid of the truck.

Sounds like a cracked battery housing - the terminals are fine.

I heard everything came out assembled perfectly during the Covid lockdown.

How many batteries do you typically go through on your impact when tightening the battery hold down? I usually stop at 1 and a half.

What size batteries? Just making sure we are using the same or similar size comparatively.
I normally have an 18volt 4amp battery on my impact.

Just get a new battery is probably the move

My '21 battery is doing good still, I heard you can get a better than OEM battery so when that time comes I will "upgrade". What battery should I select when that time comes??

My OEM battery lasted 6 years. I only replaced it becase I was going on a trip. Yes it got a lot of the white corrosion products, but a can of Coke cleared it right up. My daughter's Yaris looked like it had been snowed on, Again a can of Coke and a wire brush fixed it.

It's the frustration that Toyota isn't backing their product, and are willing to lose a customer over a $400 repair.

The Ford dealer rejected my offer. Ha!

I had the OEM battery in my F-150 last 5 years. Tundra lasted just about over 3. I think it’s a crapshoot when it comes to batteries.

Agree. No matter where they come from. The cat makers don't make batteries. They just buy them.

The battery isn't the problem, other then it being damaged by Toyota.
