I have a 22 Tundra 1794 crew cab 4wd with the V6 engine. My truck is under the big recall by the way due for an engine replacement later this year.

I dropped truck off to get an oil change and tire rotation (80k miles). I got a call today from the service representative saying that they could not thread my oil drain plug back on. Essentially the remediation is to change the oil drain pan and plug. Fine no big deal. The lady is going to be getting with her manager but eluded to the fact that their dealership has not performed ALL the oil changes on the truck. She said the manager would likely want me to pay the parts and they fix for no labor charge.

This dealership mind you has completed the last THREE oil changes and this one being #4. If the the prior dealerships did have error it would have been problematic before this IMO.

I'm posting this to get some advice and insight on how to speak with the manager when he calls this afternoon. Is there a national toyota service hotline I can call for local dealership disputes, etc? If this should go there.

My opinion of the matter is all my oil changes and service work has been completed at a Toyota dealership. As a toyota customer it shouldn't matter and if another dealership did bad work they should take it up with them. It shouldn't bleed down to the customer.

    Any help is appreciated

Don't hesitate, go straight into the service manager's office right now and demand to speak to him ASAP. Then, proceed to tell him what the problem is and give him ten minutes to correct it by letting him know that if it's not resolved within 10 minutes you will be on the phone with corporate, local media outlets, and social media to take the steps necessary to make sure EVERYONE becomes aware of his dealership's lousy service department.

They can’t thread your drain plug because they likely overtightened it. It only happens due to human error…so, Toyota technician got some ‘splaining to do.

    They’ve jumped that part.

When I had my Scion the dealership did every oil change for 10 years. The last oil change before I traded up, they pulled that crap on me. Obviously the current or previous tech over tightened the plug and service manager said that Toyota considered the oil pan a wear item. I didn't leave his desk until he agreed to foot the entire bill for pan and labor.

It's amazing what different dealerships can get away with if they aren't challenged.

They owned up to it. They are changing the drain pan and plug.
    Fortunately it went over well

Same here they try to do shady shit all the time.
I'm curious on when they will replace the engine. I have no symptoms of anything wrong with it.
They told me it would be around November a month ago but it didn't sound that soon when I went in yesterday.
