During a recent trip to the Colorado mountains the alarm on my 2021 1794 CM would go off frequently but not in a consistent time pattern (every 3 to 16 minutes at least) for what at the time seemed like no apparent reason. I opened/closed all doors, windows, hood, tailgate, moonroof to no avail. I pulled the security horn fuse and the horn fuse and put a blanket over the lights so as not to infuriate everyone at the ski lodge.
At the time I wondered if it was related to the cold 9 F because I couldn’t think of anything else.
Now that I am back home in Oklahoma where the temperature is more reasonable 20-70F I have not had the issue at all.
Looking back, I think it was related to the fact that mobile phone service (and I assume Toyota Connect service) would constantly go in and out. For example, we never got a good enough signal with Verizon to make or receive calls or surf the internet but sporadically we got a signal with no bars and would receive our text messages but not be able to send any.
Is it possible that the truck would lose signal with Toyota Connect and sound the alarm? (maybe thinking that someone was tampering with it to steal it?)

I doubt it was the cold. No problems with mine and it was -22F this morning. Maybe the cell service but lot of other users run in and out of service areas with no problems. I do wonder about the SOS button above your head but that should only call out. Mine has gone thru all sorts of snow and cold this week with no problems. I would make sure to tell the service person the next time you bring it in so it is at least written up for the problem.

I’m resurrecting my own thread because this happened again in a new location.
I don’t pay for Toyota Connect.
I parked at Talking Rocks cave near Branson, MO last weekend and after about 10 minutes the regular horn and security horn went off with lights flashing. I thought maybe someone else’s Toyota key fob set it off because another Toyota owner was pushing his fob at the same time. About 15 minutes later my family and I are hiking up a trail and I hear the horns go off again. I had to run back down the trail to go shut it off. That’s when it clicked, there’s no mobile service here so I pulled the two fuses so I wouldn’t have to worry about it when we took the cave tour.

What can it be if it’s not related to the truck’s ability to connect to a remote server?
