Spent the day at a super spreader event. Red Sox fan weekend.. got to meet and greet with a mix of old and new players. Here’s me and two of the kids with my buddy Varitek. My wife and older son were in the other autograph room

    D4EBDC7D-9AA5-41FC-B21D-11893EB509C7.jpg

in the end we ended up with 6 autographs, some pictures with other players. And some good memories.

I'll be paying off the house and watching little AK graduate in the same year. It can take its time coming.

So cool! Boston fans are one of a kind. I found that out a few years ago when I flew through Boston airport on our way to an Nantucket wedding,….. wearing a Yankees hat. Still would like one day to attend a game at Fenway

Yeah, some Boston fans can be a little much. On the same point, I’ve been harassed while in NY wearing a Sox hat.

Fenway is an experience, I’d avoid any Yankee games, the jerks come out for those. Any other time would be great. That being said, the seats suck, half of them are facing the wrong way, if your over 5-10, then you’ll be jamming your knees into the seat in front of you. You’ll be sharing your seat with the 300’lb guy next to you, and if your lucky, you don’t have a upper deck stanchion blocking your view. It’s got it’s history, but I want a new ballpark

Any of you guys have smart keys for any of your vehicles? Wondering if we need anything to keep the wife's new car from being stolen off the driveway. Faraday bag?

My wife's new Forester has one, the bags work really well, but all you really need is to wrap the keys in aluminum foil, works great. Give it a try. :)

You usually can turn the fob off and on with a specific button sequence. It varies by make and model but should be in your manual. Kind of defeats the convenience factor of the smart key though, so have fun weighing that lol

See if this will work for you: https://www.tundras.com/threads/disable-smart-key-options.91232/#post-2298099

I'm mulling the idea of a switch or series of switches to break the start button's circuit at ground (e.g., a row of 5 switches, so press 1, 4, and 5 and you complete ground). Not sure that will work for the remote start function of the fob, and not sure that function comes along with the thieves' stealing the switch signal. Also, I still have the thing serviced at the stealership, and I'm not confident they'd understand what was going on with it.

Apologies for quoting myself - - what car does she have? Even other Toyotas have a different ctrl+alt+del to turn the fob off and on.

I park in the garage, have insurance and own a shotgun.

I've actually thought about it though, and I looked at getting a faraday box or something. Problem would be engraining the habit into The Woman of putting the keys in said box every time she gets home. When she comes home, I can usually follow the route she took through the house by the randomly placed items. It's basically a garage sale.

My friend (yes, only one, except you guys) got his smart-key chevy stolen while he was at the gym. Took them all of 10 minutes to copy the key, open the door, and roll out of the lot. He found it at the police impound with no engine, front body panels, bed, doors, or interior. They took all of his worthless belongings, but forgot to open the sunglasses hatch in the ceiling console, where is $150 RayBans were. Those and a check for 4/5ths the value of the truck was all he got out of the deal.

so when people scan the key fobs, how far are they needing to be from it? i keep ours in a garage and the rack we hang our keys is a minimum of 10 feet from any external wall that can access them.

a guy on IG in canada caught on his camera someone at his front door "scanning" his door area with his backpack. he told me that canada has been pretty bad about car thefts lately and his buddy had gotten hit by them and his truck taken.
