Toyo - USA National Backorder

I ordered my TOYO Open Country MT's from Discount Tire a few days ago and get a call today. They can't get them. The tires are on "National Backorder". What does that even mean?

A few Google searches and here is what I found:

Toyo and Yokohama are in a legal dispute over their shared tire plants. As of right now Toyo has lost the right to produce tires in the US.
I work in the tractor trailer business and get this question a lot from customers.
That is how it stands right now. It should be worked out by summer though. But I wouldn't expect to see many before fall.

 

Due to COVID, backorders and extended lead-time are happening throughout pretty much every industry to some degree.
