Anyone towing a travel trailer (26-30ft) with a lift Tundra? I have a 7in BDS and 37 Toyos and about to purchase an RV trailer. Any issues, suggestions, etc.?

To be blunt, it will be flat out dangerous and not a good experience.

Kinda like going mudding on factory bald tires.

you'll be hating life with those gears and tires. The lift will be a fight everywhere, unstable etc. Wrong tool for the job on this one.

Custom offsets has a video out about lifted towing (1/7in or less). From the vid, I would need airbags in the rear, possible upgrade brakes, check tire rating, and the "correct" gearing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nxsr8vD6nIc

yeah, brakes will be hating it too. Travel trailers are top heavy.

Personally, wouldn't do it. I've towed a bunch of different TT's from 20' up to 30' bumper pulls, and 5th wheel. I've seen how bad things can go...FAST.

I will add one more comment. You can build yours to do it but it's going to be an exhausting drive to say the least. Mentally and Physically.

Do you have a crewmax 4x4? What's your max payload and how much weight did the lift, bigger tires, etc. add on? You might want to hit the scales as these are heavy trucks without any aftermarket gear which will limit your ability to tow a large travel trailer safely without accounting for the lift, braking, gears, etc.

Yep, towing capacity dropped about 15%. I do have cold air, dual exhaust and a bully dog on it now too.

Still gonna swap the front bumper and may lose the tonneau for a headache rack. Just got the rear bumper on after somebody hit me. Gott finish the sensors, plate lights and reverse pods

I would get in the TX subforums on here and see if anyone close to you has a flatbed equipment/car hauler. Put their Tundra on the trailer (the trailer will need to be 10k or better rated) and go for a tow. Hell, even look for a trailer rental business and rent a suitable trailer for some testing. This won’t be exact, since TT have a lot more wind drag, but it will give you an idea of what you’re up against. Money well spent if you ask me. I personally would rather make a 100.00 rental fee mistake than a 20-100,000.00 mistake. I have a little personal financial experience in that department.

Check with @Mnorris1206 he hauls a camper with a 6 inch lift. I think he only has spring helpers. I know I am waiting to haul my 24 pondtoon and see how it does.

4.88 ? How do I find out what stock gears mine has in it ? I have always wondered because I dont hunt for gears in my truck like some say and being a long bed didn't know if their are different gears in it or what.

There are no stock 4.88’s. The towing package has 4.30’s and the non towing package has 4.10’s

I think the OP would be just fine if running 35s on 4.30 but then again depends on towing weight also. Idk the difference between a 2nd gen and the 3rd gens in this department.
