My question is related to weight. I've got a Deck tool box in the back probably around 225 lbs, a heavy winch bumper and a 12,000 lbs winch. Truck weight with everything listed, me in it and a full tank of gas is 6700 pounds. Once my family gets in it I'll be right at 7000 pounds which is max weight for the truck...
MY QUESTION IS, I've got about 250 lbs of tools and off road equipment for wheeling and I'll be pulling a 5800 pound camper. SO, would it help to put that 250 lbs of equipment inside the camper while in tow or does it matter if its just in the bed of my truck making my truck weight 7250 lbs???? Does it matter where the weight is?? I'm just trying to make things easy for my tranny

You will be overweight either way if you hook up that trailer.

At this point in time I’ve convinced myself I need a 5500 or equivalent truck.

Some people actually do. 99.956% of these members do not.

I know...but if I want to tow my tent trailer and put my four wheeler in the bed of the truck and carry six spare tires and a hi lift jack and 500 gallons of drinking water, I may need it.

I’m joking! If only the payload was that of a 3/4 ton or a one ton. That would be super nice. The towing capacity doesn’t need to go way up. Just the payload. :fingerscrossed:

If it was a solid 1700-1850 lbs, life would be a lot better in Toyotasville.
