I have a 2015 crewman 1794 and I have recently bought a 41ft Viking Valhalla that weighs 20,880. I know it’s a no. But I need to tow it to the boat launch. It probably a 20 minute drive. I am just wondering what everyone has towed before (over capacity)

Oem tonneau, side steps, spray in liner. Trd skidplate.
For real or is this a joke. No way in hell, shit the weight police give me hell with my 5ver and I am only 9k and I have a high payload being a 2wd DC. Not a chance, a couple hundred lbs sure, twice rated tow capacity is a bad idea looking 2 go worse...

Normally I'd say go for it, short trip no worries. But 20k plus another 6-7 for the truck is a metric assload. I'd borrow someone's one ton or a U-Haul, and even then you'll probably be overweight but at least the weight difference won't be 3x the weight of the truck :D

Please don't! Rent a proper truck for this job! A one ton dually or higher. I have never towed over capacity and usually stick to the 80% rule.

Are there any hills up or down along your route? If you do tow it I would be a little concerned backing it down the launch that kind of weight can drag you down the ramp if it is a steep one.

Take pictures, before/after. I wonder if you actually make it to a boat ramp, if you could stop it backing up.
    Really……take pictures.

Holy shit! That is way over limit for my 3/4 ton. You need a 1-ton dully minimum!

I’d say no way. But I’d be more worried about truck, trailer and boat all sliding in the water at the boat ramp.

Or literally/possibly killing someone, or multiple someones, and ending up in prison for manslaughter. Or dead unless you survived the crash. Jus' sayin'

Actually make sure you take video. We can create a new 2021 Boat Launch Fail video. Note the submerged Tundra at the 2:30 mark in this video….

Yep. I said no way in my post. But this 20 min drive could be down a flat private road to a private boat ramp. Hell, the guy just bought a $600,000 boat. I’d never drive on a road with others pulling that in a tundra though.

Yeah. I wouldn’t even put that strain on my truck to pull it across the driveway. Even if the tundra *did* pull a space shuttle.

So let me get this straight - your buddy just dropped half a million on a new boat, and instead of spending an extra $500 to rent the proper equipment to get it into the water he wants to take the absolute most risky/dangerous route possible to save?

40-50K wouldn't cover 2 of the outboards on that boat, I think the starting price on that boat is 600K...lol

    Function before sparkle.
Loaded boat weight… not including the trailer?

Even on a private road, that is stupid with a Tundra. Get a service to move it for you.

I’ll take pictures. If I do… I’ve towed 10k before. And it felt fine. That was over an hour then once the boat was empty about 8k I’ve done it a couple times. But that is also half the weight But right now. I am leaning towards a uhaul truck. I know it was a bad idea. Id be towing it from the dealer outside of Panama City. So not the best place to tow either. I want to hook it up to just see at this point

Where are all those "but it towed the space shuttle" ding dongs now?

You just spent almost 700K. Hire a hot shot that moves boats.

If the dealer lets you leave with that set up I’m sure they would be liable for damage. I can’t imagine them letting you leave with that set up. Probably illegal

To be fair, they didn't launch the shuttle into a lake. I'm getting a good laugh thinking about it though

My boat weighs 1/4 of that and I have to be careful on steep ramps. No way I would even think about launching it. If something happened good luck with insurance. For that kind of money the dealer should take care of it.
