When i towed old boat aluminum no tire pressure sensor lights on
Towing new ranger tire pressure sensor lights come on until i unhook trailer
Had tire sensors checked and tires checked
So I decided to pump tires to 49 psi instead on 36psi and try see what happens
This ever happen to anyone else
I know new boat is heavier, but tire pressure sensor turn on??

Is your Ranger brand new? If used it could have a aftermarket TPMS sensors on the trailer that is throwing the truck system off, just a thought. My Ranger is a 18' and I get no tire lights when I tow it, I'm running 40 PSI on the factory tires.

Maybe the TPMS needs to be reset by hitting the button? I’ve never tried it so not sure what it does. Maybe recalibrates it?

Correct Ranger does not do TPMS on their trailers, if it has it would be aftermarket done by the previous owner. But that was just a thought, I don't even know how those systems work in conjunction to the vehicle and it may not even have that at all just brainstorming.

Does the trailer have round plug or a flat one? If a flat one do you have it hooked to a round adaptor? If a flat one is it a 4 or 5 plug?

I has flat in trailer but, hooked to adapter to round plug

That shouldn’t have nothing to do with TPMS

Just brainstorming is all. However if you join BassBoatCentral they have a really good Ranger boat forum for any boat questions you may ever have. I know this doesn't matter to your TPMS issue but some new Ranger owners will buy a round adaptor that is 4 plug flat and hook their 5 plug flat from the boat and you cannot reverse due to the surge brake system. There is a solenoid that the 5th wire goes to and allows you to back up and the trailer brakes won't engage. It's about as common of an issue on that forum as "what tires will fit stock truck" on this forum. As long as you have a 5 plug adaptor hooked to round with 5 flat plugs then no worries there.

The 5th wire goes to the reverse lighting circuit on your truck. When you put it in reverse it locks the brake actuator on the trailer so the trailer brakes will not engage. I use this wire circuit on my trailer to mount some single row LEDs spot for back up lighting. My trailer came with a 5 wire flat hooked up to a female 5 wire fault a 7 wire round to plug in to the truck. Of course the 7 wire round does not have 7 live connectors in it. I think this is what you are referring to.

I don't think it's a trailer problem at all. Just a heads up on the plug.

Yea I've got the 7 round with 5 flat on the back but have to have a 5 flat extension to reach my 5 flat plug trailer plug. A lot of people get a round plug with 4 on the back, plug a 5 into it and wonder why they cant back up. I had to replace my actuator in the tongue last year (Tie Down Engineering) and it has a round bypass or solenoid whatever it is to allow reverse. After doing that I noticed my torsion axle was bad on one side but had it replaced with a UFP, that required new rotors and calipers but luckily I was still able to use my new Tie Down actuator.

My trailer is a flat plug
I have both flat and round on truck should i go flat from trailer to flat plug on truck

Right now i have flat on trailer to extension flat to round on truck
I really dont think the extension is the problem, but its cheap to see if it fixes the light when hooked up

I don't think that's the problem, sounds like we have the same setup.

Flat on truck will only work with a 4 wire hook up on trailer. If you have surge brakes you have to have the round for the reverse light wire to disengage actuator in reverse. Blue wire is for reverse selinoid on actuator.

Surge brakes are applied when the truck slows pushing the trailer forward and the tongue moves backwards. When you back up the tongue moves backwards so the actuator thinks it should apply brakes. This solenoid bypasses that when in reverse, it's the 5th wire. The flat plug built into our trucks only has 4 plugs.

Still has nothing to do with TPMS like they mentioned, I just brought up the 5 plug vs 4 incase OP wasn't aware and then the thread got off topic.

TPMS sensors generally work on the same system as the ABS. They measure small differences in wheel speed. Maybe your rear tires are actually over inflated in relation to your fronts.

Basically if the TPMS system senses that your wheels are spinning at slightly different rates it will trigger the warning.

If I raise my rear tire pressure for towing/hauling but forget to drop them after I'm unhooked it will trigger the TPMS light. Same way with carrying a heavy load in the bed without airing rear tires up, it will sense the tire speed difference even though the pressure has remained the same.

EDIT: or do you actually have a tire that is low, maybe a front tire?

The first time the light came on took it to the show all four wheels sensors are good
Check tires pressure all four good
Shop inflated all tires to 40psi to see if that works

.....and I just schooled myself and learned that the Tundras have direct TPMS sensors. They actually measure pressure. Have you checked your spare?

TPMS and ABS are not related at all.

TPMS uses radio transmission, ABS is hard wired.

Is there a sonar or fish finder on the boat? Disconnect the boat battery to kill all boat electronics.

I freely admit I'm tossing darts here. I'm very interested in the outcome.
