Towing mileage

    Finally towed the trailer for a long haul. 2022 1794 4x4 with 10K miles. Averaged 9.3 mpg towing a 7000# travel trailer trying to maintain a steady 65 mph. The best that my Z71 Suburban ever averaged on the same trip with the same trailer was 8.5. 10% better is good!

    About 1.5 mpg better than I get with a similar load and speed in my 2018 Platinum on 34” tires.

    Update... Another 250 miles... Averaged 10.1 mpg on this leg so overall was 9.7 mpg. I'm well pleased with this mileage and it pulled like a dream. Tow + was much smoother than the Suburban downshifting too low up the hills.

    Trd sways, bullydog, magnaflow, sumo springs
    10% is negligible difference. It really just reinforces that aerodynamics is what matter. Not engines

    Yep, I budget for 10 MPG and then don't even calculate it.

    '00 4.7, '19 5.7, it's always gonna' be 10-ish, give or take.

    Towing and Mileage are two words that don't really belong together. :rolleyes:

    Yes, lots of factors affect mpg.
