    Hi All,

I will be towing the below trailer in August from Southern California to Whistler, Canada. Multiple stops in between. 2 week road trip. The furthest I have towed is 6 hours away with my previous 2004 Sequoia. Round trip will be about 2500 miles.

    • 2017 Forest River Wildwood 23ft Towing 4,473
I will be towing with my 2015 5.7L CM. 55k miles.

    Anything y’all recommend?

    TIA

    Enjoy the trip!!!

Spare parts is a good thing:

Bearing set, already greased in a plastic bag.

    Spare bulbs

    Spare brake magnet

    Tools to perform these tasks

    Is a brake controller recommended?

A few necessities. Sway control hitch, cooler full with beverage if choice, gas money, and a major itch to have a great time! (Gas money is optional depending on surroundings)

I’m going to need a lot of gas money. Calculated 1000k.

Nice rig. Good job coming up to Canadia for a visit also! I don’t know what exactly your thinking as tips but I’d make sure my transmission fluid was in good shape prior to leaving. An auxiliary trans cooler is always a bonus for a hauler too. August is always hot hot hot! I keep a bottle of tire slime in my trailer as well for flats on tight windy roads without good pullover room to replace. Have a blast sound like a good trip!

Hi from Vancouver BC. I agree tires have to be good and having a spare bearing for the trailer is a great idea. That all being said there are lots of services along the way so you won’t be out in the cold if something goes wrong. Whistler is great in August!

Install isn’t bad. Drain transmission fluid first. Just cut a two 90’s into into the existing transmission line return line and tube in new aux cooler.

There are a few good yt videos explaining and showing step by steps as well.

I do believe people have been having good results on the new models. There is a software update on some of the older models with IBCs.

9-11.345 mpg is what you’re see. Your load is smaller that some on here. I averaged 9 mpg with a 8k trailer and 65-75 mph.

Tire pressure, tire pressure, tire pressure! Maybe look into a TPMS (Tire pressure monitoring system) for the trailer tires.

As far as mpg's, just took our camper from Denver to Santa Fe running heavy (probably over 8K lbs) and averaged 8. Came home about 3k lbs lighter and averaged about 9.5.

Not sure if you've been before, but you'll love Crater Lake. You don't even need your trailer in Portland—you can just sleep on the sidewalk downtown and scream at people without fear of consequence. No need to find a toilet, either.
