    Hello,

I’m considering buying a 2023 Tundra. My understanding is that some models will tow 12,000 pounds. The hybrid version seems to be the way to go. I have a fifth wheel trailer that weighs 7800 pounds and I think I have never towed more than 9800 pounds total. Chevy doesn’t seem to want to build my configuration (double cab, standard bed, 2500hd, 4x4) so I’m moving on.

I would appreciate your thoughts on the suitability of a Tundra, as a tow vehicle, for my trailer.

    Bill

Bill, I doubt your pin weight will be under the Toyota rating.

Toyota tundra is a 1/2 ton. Chevy 2500HD is 3/4 ton. Big difference. Controlling the load & being able to stop the load are huge things to consider.

I’ll do some research on that pin weight. Stopping distance is a big consideration. My trailer is considered a half ton towable, but that doesn’t mean squat when you have to slam on the brakes.

All good thoughts, keep them coming.

Is there 5th wheel hitches out for the Tundra with the composite bed?

This is empty and it moves my truck around a bit. Can't say I would want a lighter truck pulling this around. 4722AE01-7ECC-4E3E-BEE2-49212564AE45.jpg
