My Tundra is the first vehicle I had with the tow/haul feature.

I decided to try it yesterday on the way home from work and was not towing anything.

Sure noticed a big difference. Am anxious to see what it does when I am towing my trailer.

My question is: Is it always necessary to use this when towing?

I always use it when I tow. I don’t find that it’s required, but the responsiveness is much better. Every once in a while I forget to engage it and the difference is quite noticeable.

Works really well along with S mode when next to Hemi-Rams at traffic lights.

To haul mode makes the pedal a little more sensitive so there is less lag from towing a load, and it changes the shift mapping to hold lower gears longer for better torque and towing performance. I always use it when I tow.

I use it all the time…and I am never towing or hauling anything more than my golf clubs. Absolutely no detriment to mileage. In fact it might be slightly better with it on.

I always use when towing and in hilly terrain when not.
