Update: the KYB’s arrived and they are - of course - perfect. The Monroe top hats were just not the right part.

I am putting 6112's on my Tundra. I bought them disassembled, and ordered a generic top hat off Amazon (Monroe Strut-Mate 907923) so I could pre-assemble them and save a little money on installation. I noticed that the bottom side of the top hat has an integrated cylindrical projection that is supposed to fit inside the spring. Otherwise, there is nothing but friction to keep the spring mated to the center of the top hat. The Monroe top hats I ordered are supposedly OEM equivalent, but that center part is much smaller than the ID of the spring. Which means it will not keep the spring centered, but will allow it to move about a half inch in any direction. Is this OK? Do the KYB SM5737 fit inside the springs a little more snugly? I'm trying to find these locally to take the spring in for an actual fit, but they are only available for
    ordering.

The only thing in the package was what you see plus 4 nuts. The top bushing and washers were with the 6112's.

    Not sure at this point.
Have you tried looking at the 6112 diagrams?

Pretty sure you need the 6112 top hats. They don’t use oem components as it’s a bigger shock and different spring than oem.

You're missing the rubber isolator that avoids metal/metal contact. We don't buy Monroe top hats for the very reason you've found. They don't come with the isolator! The KYB SM5737 will include the necessary top hat as well as an isolator.

    Many on the way.
As mentioned above, there should be a rubber isolator.
