I'm wondering if something was wrong with it. It honestly felt like it had the same power and get up and go as my 2021 Tacoma, so it was a real let down. Then when I pulled into the dealer and put it into park the RPM's dropped to about 400 then jumped back to about 1200 before settling out at a normal idle. That seemed really odd.

I then took a 4th gen Tacoma out, that thing got up and moved like I expected. I ran out of time and the dealer was clueless so I'm going back to try different Tundra tonight

The hybrid with 435 hp jumps right out when I floor it - e.g. to pass. I don't usually floor it though, it sucks gas...

    Lots of stuff!
My 22 gasser has too much power. Not too sure why the tester you tried didn't perform well. Maybe the e-brake was on!

Try putting the Tundra into sport mode or tow mode. Also go through the gears using the manual shift but get an open highway for that and just step on it. Lots of fun!

I imagine the RPM dipping while parking was the auto-stop/start feature. Mine did that all the time until I bypassed it so it always stays off.

I'm guessing the test drive truck was in eco mode. Next time put it in sport mode and hit the tow button. It should be a totally different experience.

Do tell how you bypassed the auto stop/start to stay off permanently.

I've become used to hitting the off button every time I start the truck, but it would be nice to eliminate that step.

That rpm surge was the auto off feature thinking about kicking in.

The 3rd gen Tacoma is a dog compared to the tundra. I had two, a 2017 and a 2021. Put the tundra in sport mode and gun it and you’ll see. I have a hybrid but I’ve heard even the nonhybrid is wicked fast too for a 6000 pound truck.

Alright I'm guess it was in ECO or something, and the auto shutoff makes sense. I hope to try the other truck tonight during daylight. Thanks

You should be able to bark those tires in Normal or Sport mode. Turn hard right when going on your test drive tonight and see if you can smoke 'em.

Coming from a 2023 Tacoma, this tundra is a complete night and day difference.

not a lot of detail there but could also be the port injection cycle, these are port and direct injected

I drove a SR5 tonight, something wasn't quite right with the limited I drove yesterday. Even in ECO mode the truck tonight was way better/quicker, in sport mode in was a rocket. The dip in RPM I noticed is for sure the auto stop feature trying to kick in, I was able to reproduce it several times.

Even V8 in tow/haul mode feels like it pours its single digit MPG into rocket booster. Can't drive like that every day when your belly is appropriate for father of three.

You did a test drive, and posted before the second test drive on the same day? I wish I had your time to waste

I've had this module installed for 11 months on mine. No issues.
    Haven't touched that button since.

    I have this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/125666096660

The drawback is having to run a wire over to the fuse box on the passenger side. The cover as is doesn't go back on with the module plugged into the fuse box.

    Thanks for that info.

I've decided to live with pushing the button to turn auto S/S off rather than messing with the wiring on my truck.

The Amazon one linked is plug and play. Nothing to do but unplug the switch, install the cable and plug it back in.
You can enable the start stop by pushing the button. Disabled on next startup.
    The way it should be….

Mine has only come on during the drive home from the dealership about 2 years ago. Maybe the auto stop/start doesn't like me!

Actually, I think it is more that the "battery is charging" message comes on so this auto feature gets disabled. It's been like that since we got the truck so I don't mind it :)
