Ok so someone break this down for me like I’m 4.
I have a 2024 Tundra and bought 17x9 wheels. I have 2” leveling spacers. I want to go Nitto Ridge Grappler 35’s for new tires. I believe they are 35x12.5R17.

I understand the 17 is the diameter and that matches my wheel’s diameter.
But would the tire not fit being that it’s 12.5 and not 9? Or am I a complete idiot?
Any help is much appreciated. I very new to truck tires and sizes.

It’s not that hard. Just go into a major dealer and ask them to mount the biggest size tire or the one that you want. They won’t mount something that’s gonna rub or won’t fit. It’s a liability for them.

Tires are wider than the wheels they are mounted on. The 12.5 is the width of the tread, not the bead.

The 12.5” is the width from sidewall to sidewall (also called section width), not always the actual tread although it will be very close for many tires, especially low profile ones. 35” on 17” rims will have a bigger difference between the advertised 12.5” width of the sidewalls and the actual tread width.
