Maybe I should have posted this in here? Sorry for the cross-post.

Looking for advice on a 2005 AC Tundra I bought that came with Fuel Shok 17x10 -18 wheels and 275/70R17 K02s. From what I can tell the max rim width for that tire size is 8.5 inches, not the 10 I have. The tire doesn't look right on the wheel.

The details are in this post in the wheels and tires forum. Pics too!

    I think my options are:
    • Get new tires. If I stay in the K02s, options include:
      • 295/70R17 (diameter 33.3, 69 lbs)
      • 305/65R17 (diamater 32.6, 59.5 lbs)
      • 33x12.50R17 (diamater 32.5, 62.2 lbs)
    • Keep the tires and get new wheels with a max rim width of 8.5
    • Just run them as they arrived.
    Would really appreciate your advice.

Get a rim that is correctly sized if you like the current tires and they have good tread. Those will de-bead too easily if you air down.

Just make sure to get the correct offset as well.

Thanks guys, on this thread and the other.

Would the Method 703s at 17x8.5 work? The rim is right for the tires. 0 offset / 4.75" backspace. The Fuel Shoks that are on there now have a 4.79" backspace and aren't interfering with anything. Seems right?

If going from a 17x10 to a 17x8.5 rim with the same backspace... the tire will move 3/4" inwards. The inside edge of the rim will be in the same place.

If there's enough clearance for the tire you'll be ok.

My new-to-me 2005 DC purchased back in February has 265/70R16 tires on 16" x 8" rims from Discount Tires. I am not sure if I am going to keep the rims or switch them out for the stock rims and tires. I am one of those that thinks the OEM aluminum rims also look good with the all terrain tires. I am not into lifts, spacers, leveling kits, etc.

Does any one know if the extra inch from an 8" rim versus the OEM 7" rim reduces the overall tire height by forcing the sidewalls out? Thanks.

Probably not between those two width rims. Maybe a little with a 10" or 12" wide rim. Would look ridiculous on either of those though. Like this:
