I have a 2017 Tundra Platinum, I want to use the Bilstein 5100 leveling kit with the shocks set at the middle mark of 1.57”. My logic being, I don’t want to lift the rear & I assume the 2.3” mark is harder on suspension geometry & tire wear as well. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. That’s been my experience with other trucks though. I’ve used the Bilstein kits before on other trucks and been very satisfied.

My question is what tire size can I fit under there with no rubbing? I don’t want to cut on the truck, but something very minimal would be fine. I plan on going from the OEM 20” wheels to OEM 18” wheels as the taller sidewall rides smoother.

Thanks in advance for your input.

UCA rub will be a potential issue if you go above 285's

    I concur.
    I had 285/55/20s stock on my 2014.
The dealer was then selling spacer-lifted 2015s with 305/55/20 tires.
There was like a 1/4 of space between the tire and the UCA, a little too close for me..

@Bham TRD when I installed 6112/5160s with the 6112s set on the second to the lowest setting, I ended up with 2.5" of front lift.
It pretty much leveled the truck, but it started to set the nannies off on tight turns, thinking the truck was tipping over.:eek2:
Looks nose high, but it measured level.

I ended up putting Toytec shackles on the 1" setting on the rear to get a little bit of rake back.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Do y’all think a 275/70r18 would be an issue?

@1lowlife the second to lowest setting would be the 1.57” same as the 5160, right?

Thats crazy if it lifted it that high!

When I’ve used them on F150’s they always sat a little high in the beginning, but settled some after a bit. How long did you wait before adding the shackle?

    The 6112s have 4 settings, I think the 5100s have 3?
The lift was supposed to be 1.9" but I included a 1/4" shim that gave me another 1/2" of lift.
In my mind, I thought it would make the ride better, not compressing the spring as much, but it is still pretty stiff.
Chances are it did the opposite...:eek2::cool:

A 275/70/18 would be about the same size as my 275/60/20.
I have no problems with rubbing, although I ditched the front mudflaps.

The truck rides and steers better with the thinner tire than the 285/55/20s it came with.
