New here. First time Toyota owner. Originally from the Boston area and living in West Virginia. Purchased a 21 Tundra SR5 SX, Barcelona Red with black trim and couldn’t be happier. Great truck that rides like a Cadillac. Issue I am having is the stock pizza cutters that came on the truck. Smooth ride but, in my opinion looks weak. I’m on 255/70r/18’s. Of course I don’t want to lose my warranty so, suspension lift/tires is out of the question but, I want a wider/taller/bee look. I would like to go 275/70r/18 or even 285s. All terrain possibly muddlers. Tire shop guy told me I go over 265 the ride becomes harder and takes the smoothness out. Is this true and is there a huge difference? Plus, I don’t want to worry about rubbing. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Anything E/LT rated will ride firmer. Completely stock you can go 275/70/18 just fine

I run 275/70-18, they fit perfect on a stock truck. Your stock tires are standard load tires. Moving to a larger tire on a Tundra means moving to an LT tire- usually E load in the size that you are considering. E load tires are much stronger, beefier, and will ride firmer than standard load tires. I would not suggest mud tires unless you actually need them. Mud tires can look really good, but do have drawbacks- do not ride as well, loud, less traction in rain, etc. vs a similar size all terrain or hybrid tire.

A lift will not void the warranty. I run 285/70/18's on mine. The ride is not bad at all.

Welcome from Maryland. I like the 20” rims p275 55r20 (stock). Think it rides better than the 18” on highway. I took off my stock tires and rims. Many say one size better than other if mud and some say height is better than width. Have fun and make best choice you can

I have a stock 2021 SX, I'm wanting to do a level and do some bigger tires. its has 18's on it, not sure to just go with 20's or if the 18's are good with just upgraded tires. Any thoughts?
has any one done a level the SX? If so, what level size/tires/rims size did you use?

The SX is no different than the rest of the trim levels in regards to leveling, lifting, etc.

Keep the 18s. I wish I had 18s but the only way I could get BFGs on a new Tundra was with 20s.

Welcome and greetings from Minnesota. My general understanding is that a larger sidewall results in an overall smoother ride due to increased tire sidewall flex. Good luck either way.

Sure, first is 275/70, stock and 2nd is same tires but with 2/1 lift- about the same stance as a TRDPRO.

E load, as are most tires if you want something larger than stock on a Tundra. E load is overkill for a half ton, C load would be perfect. They are firmer, cornering is better. I think it drives and handles better, but not as cushy ride as the stock SL tires. You feel road imperfections more. Getting tire air pressure right based on your truck setup, load, weight helps greatly. Tundra's seem sensitive to air pressure, even a couple pounds adjustment difference makes a big difference in ride comfort, tire wear, etc. I am happy with the mods, good driving and a bit of a sporty ride.

Would you say that the 265 or 255 have better ride quality than the 275?

my truck is extremely bouncy right now. At at 305

depends on the load rating of the tires. If they are E load, ride will be the same, firmer, if the tires are SL (standard load) they will ride better. But like I said, when moving to 33 inch tires or larger on a Tundra, that usually means E load if you are running 19 or 20 inch wheels.
