Currently running Nitto Ridge grapplers LT 295 70/R 18’s on Method Bead grip wheels.. 25,000. Miles on them and they are getting super noisy. Looking to replace with a more quiet A/T tire..any recommendations appreciated.

I have 285.75.18 Falken AT4W only 1,000 miles so far but quiet and look great.

Nitto's RECON Grappler is a little tamer version of the Ridge Grappler. I dont have 25k on mine yet, but 10k they're still performing like day 1 and I haven't noticed any appreciable noise increase. Similar weights too so no loss in the butt dyno.

I run Nokian Outpost nAT's. Tick over stock at 275/60/20. Not E rated as I don't need E.....snowflake rated which us Canadians need.....silent on the highway and in town. Ride like factory. Awesome on the snow and deep snow......never go in mud

Yep - i had a set of their previous version and they worked well for me. My truck mainly used for city and highway driving, no offroad stuff
and country driveway or two making deliveries on my side jobs.

I did do some research on those. At 275/60/20 which costs less than at 265/60/20 at Discount Tire. I don't understand that but hey, it has a 60,000 mile life and is AT rated too.

Yokohama Geolandar AT G015. Quiet. So far so good with over 10K miles.

I have over 50K on my BFG KO2's and they are just now becoming noisy, however not too bad at this point. I balance every 5K or so and they still l have decent life left in them. Running 275/70/18's. I previously had a set of Falkens and treated them the same with balancing etc. They got noisy after 40K and at 50K they were really loud.

I’ve had two sets of Falken Wildpeak at3’s and would be buying my third set but they have been discontinued. The new version (at4) is heavier which I don’t want. Going with the Nokian outpost nat instead.

The reviews on the Nitto Recons are a mixed bag. I was always a Michelin man but my first set of Nitto Terra Grapplers were awesome..not so much on the Ridge Grapplers….

I’m putting on Yokohama Geolandar G015s on Monday, 295/70/r18. The reviews have been that these are more road friendly than your average A/T. Quiet, comfortable. You can tell just from the tread pattern. However, Yokohama earned its reputation with sticky race tires, and rolling resistance is higher and might affect MPG more if that’s a factor. They are also noticeably less expensive than the big names in AT. IMG_1763.jpg IMG_1764.jpg

I also run them. Almost at 14k miles on a set of LT275/65r18’s and I absolutely love them. Comfortable ride, exceptional traction virtually everywhere, a little softer riding than CooperAT3’s, handle loads very well, treadwear appears to be very good so far, handles mud way better than I could have expected, snow traction is superb, and overall a very good tire. I’d compare it more to a Duratrac in off highway traction aggressiveness and appearance, as good on pavement as any other AT tire I’ve run, but better in the snow.

Another vote for Nokian nATs! I just got my set, very smooth on the highway and almost dead quiet. I did get E rated, which ride just as nice as my Michelins! I read and read and then read some more before I spent $. The fellas on the Land Cruiser forums have lots of good things to say about them as well. I live in Montana and any day can turn into an off road adventure! They balanced easily with only a couple ounces of weights. They were a few $ cheaper than the other skins I was looking at-Toyo At3s and Wildpeaks.

I too am looking at the Nokian nATs. Do you take a hit with gas mileage with E rated tires?

IME, you will take a small hit - less than 1mpg from going to an E rated tire if going from same tread to same tread. You can take a bigger hit - maybe 1-3 mpg - going from a highway tread or hypermiling OE tread AT to a true AT tire. You will take a bigger hit going to a bigger wider tire, but that depends a lot more on the drivers driving habits. Some can eek out 16 MPG’s on 35’s. Some get 12 on 33’s.

I switched back to a set of OE p rated Michelin AT2’s several years ago after running a set of Big O AT E rated tires. I gained maybe 1 mpg overall. MAYBE. I track mileage and didn’t see enough difference to justify the smaller tread depth and slightly lower price by of the o rated tires. My price per mile was actually a hair higher with the p rated tires even with the mpg hit of LT’s. But that’s my use case. My truck is never empty.

Should note that I've run LT tires since and still run LT's.

I run nokian. I have the previous gen, outpost AT, the new one is the Nat.
Best AT tires I have ever run! Lighter than most in the same size, rubber compound is amazing, great ride, little to no noise and good traction all around.

I get better MPG running the nokians in 285/75-18 (35s) than I did with wildpeaks in 275/70-18 (33s), as the nokians are a touch ligher than the smaller wildpeaks.

Report with 2k miles on the AT geolandars - very quiet and road friendly. Ride feels and sounds no different than the stock x-cv geolandars. Not to mention, these are far less expensive than the big names in AT (this size was $265/ea), and Yokohama is no off brand overall. Road mileage took a big hit, but that's not why we buy them right? Still, 3-3.5mpg...IMG_1839.jpg IMG_1841.jpg
