I have a 2021 TRD Pro with zero suspension modifications and I’m looking for tire recommendations. I live in upstate NY so snow traction is one of my bigger concerns. I had BFG KO2’s on my Tacoma and really liked them, they had significantly better snow traction than the stock tires and performed quite well off road.

I’m considering three different sizes, 275-70-18, 285-70-18, and 295-70-18. The stock tires just look so small! I know there will be a negative hit to suspension durability and gas mileage and I accept that. Most driving will be to and from work, but I do take the truck on some trail rides down some old logging trails on the weekends so AT is a must. So far the top contenders are BFG KO2’s and Nitto Ridge Grapplers, but I haven’t ruled out models like Falken Wildpeak AT or Toyo Open Country AT3.

Anyone have experience with these tires and recommend for or against them? Any input is appreciated.

    Alot of them
Toyo and Nitto are the same company. I would stay away from the BFGs....they aren't what they used to be. The Falkens are pretty good.

275-70/18 Falken Wildpeak is what I have on my 21 Pro- no trimming needed and look better than stock.

Will second the warning on BFGs - considered and was told avoid them by local tire shop as well as multi reviews. Biggest issue is wet traction. Some say they don’t ride well - they ARE heavier by a few pounds. Only positive I’ve heard is they last a while - but doesn’t seem to be an issue with any of the others.

FWIW - the Falkens handle rain/wet roads great. Ridge Grapplers have their share of fans too. Really it comes down to who has what in stock near you and best price. I wouldn’t pay too much more for any of the better names.
