Anyone tint yet? Curious to see if the back windows were legal? Trying to get the front to match the back

Depends on the state. In TX fronts have to 25% and the rest can be as dark as my ex wife’s soul

They’re not legal. Mine were metered at 20% I still matched the front anyway though. Don’t generally get much attention from the local law here for tint. Biggest pain is finding somewhere who will give you an inspection sticker.

Yup…like another poster said it depends on the state.

Here the back/factory can be as dark as possible but the fronts need to be like 35% I think.

I did 39% all around so it means the front are 39% and the back is the factory overlaid with the 39%.

Why that odd number…it’s all the tint shop had, it was a good price and since I used them on my last truck without any problems for 5 years I decided the repeat business was worth it.

black truck is stock. White one has Xpel ceramic 20% front door to match stock rears.

PA it’s legal any darkness on rear for SUV/Pick up. Front and windshield 70%. But never pulled over for tint.

I've bought tint commercially. Suppliers have a range of odd percentages because some car manufacturers have just a little shade in the factory glass. The odd numbers gets it to that sweet spot that some states or places have a fine line at.

Completely dependent on your state. Simple Google will show you. BUT TAKE CAUTION = most factory tint was done at the dealership before you bought the truck and is 1000% the cheapest shit on the planet. Make sure when you get a quote for some new expensive tint you also get them to include the cost to remove the old crap.

15% all the way around. 0 issues on tint in the state of florida but we have a place up in georgia, and the GHP love to target florida cars with window tint. We have been ticketed twice in the past.

Wait, if you are "passing through" or "visiting" with an out of state plate/vehicle, shouldn't that be outside local enforcement jurisdiction?
I mean, a THP would not be mad enough to try and make an arrest in FL, not only is that totally outside their jurisdiction, but plain dangerous.
I get it, if you see a serious offense, stop it, but ticket? I would fight that based on jurisdiction alone.

I was shocked the first time it happened. Figured it was just a DH deputy. The second time confirmed that they must be targeting. My car is 15% my wifes is darker. They have gotten us on both.

Yeah, it reminds me of the time I bought a company vehicle from another employee where they put the car up for sale after it hits a certain mileage or years. Well, the vehicle was from Oklahoma and they're a 1-plate state and Texas is a 2-plate state. I still had the OK plate on and got pulled over for only having 1-plate. I think it confused the officer even more since I had a TX DL, so he tried telling me I need to correct the plate. I told him it was just purchased and it could take up to 3 months for the new plates to come in. Luckily, he only gave me a warning but insisted I get it fixed. Bothered me because not only did he waste my time but made me out to be the bad guy for not getting it fixed right then and there.

Most definitely. My vehicle isn’t registered there, so it’s not subject to your tint laws. I’d fight a ticket like that tooth and nail.

Mine’s an SR5. Non TRD. Flares are black, I’m planning on either wrapping them or painting to match.

Ok. I thought plain SR5 had paint matched. The grill starches is though, right? I have a TRD OR on the way, so black flares too. Are they smooth? Will wrap stick? Thanks.

    I knew that, that's why I wanted a Sport. But you can't get a CM 6.5 in a Sport.

There’s a little texture to them. I don’t see any reason why wrap wouldn’t stick though. And, yes the mustache is paint matched.

Most vehicles I've had were always tinted at 20% all around. My current 2020 Tundra is 20% up front to match. Nothing on my windshield because I like to see what's in front of me at night.

I haven't had issues with being pulled over in my Tundra. Only really once was I pulled over and questioned on tint (99 Pontiac Grandam)

I have a good friend that is police officer and he told me that they usually ignore trucks. He didn't know why but that's just normal practice in their jurisdiction. Obviously YMMV

As others said. Go with quality tint though. Ceramic if you're in hot states. I went cheap and did mine myself. The tint is noticeably cheap from the inside. Now my wifes accord, we paid extra for good tint and it's well worth it.

Yes factory is 20% and tinted on the outside. It’s not like a film. More like a sealant. I scratched the back window of my old 14 tacoma wok something in the bed. I learned the hardway

Well this is revealing..much darker than I was told but ok with my 39% either way.

I had a friend in FL with windows tinted so dark he had to wind them down on dark/overcast days and at night to see when turning…can’t deal with anything close to that as I approach “middle age”
