Timing or fuse

    I have a 01 tundra 4.7. I know it's possible to jump time either starting or turning off the truck. My question is, could a main fuse cause it to sound like it has no compression. I have bore scoped the cylinders and everything seem to be in order (no damage). I'm very puzzled any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    The truck either has compression or it doesn't. A compression test is easy to do, and will answer that for you. If doing compression test, leakdown test while you're at it.

    I recommend you verify timing before you touch anything; the 4.7L is a mild interference engine, and you can do damage if the timing is off. Check the belt for wear, cracks, lumps, etc. It must be replaced every 100k miles and/or 10yrs (Toyota recommends 90k/9yr). Snapped belt can turn that engine into a boat anchor. I recently saw one video where a guy's truck stopped running because squirrels were hiding acorns in the timing covers and the acorns got stuck between belt and cam/cranks, causing the truck to jump, run poorly, then jump more, and not run.

    Only replace with Aisin parts (which is OEM brand) from a reputable vendor, i.e. AVOID fleaBay or scAmazon for parts, counterfeits pop up on both regularly.
