I have s 2011 tundra sr5 with 5.7 engine. I put a used engine in it 5 years ago that had 32000 miles on it because original engine locked up and threw rods and was seized up

how often does this timing chain need replaced? I have read different views in this. Can i tell by looking at the engine the condition of it? i assumed with used engine i probably got a new engine but that may be a bad assumption. Thanks

Is the current engine running good? If so, nothing to worry about. Even if it's not, the timing chain should be a lifetime part. Typically if a chain or chain components goes out, the engine goes out too

I want to hear more about the initial failure.

As stated - chain should last a million miles.

The initial failure happened while my wife was pulling our ski boat. It got hot. Ot sure how long it got hot but by the time she pulled it off road, there was a long trail of oil coolantetc. The toyota dealership i bought it from couldnt find what caused it. We had pulled this boat with it since i bought it new in 2011 and no problem. I did all of the services to it as prescribed, used synthetic oil, etc.

it is running fine i just want it to last another 5-7 years. I still have a 2002 tundra that runs fine. Thanks
