Need help guys. So,I recently replaced the water pump to my 2002 Tundra, with that said I also changed the timing belt..I followed everything to the letter but when I went to turn the crank to TDC the timing belt markings did not aligned with the TDC markings or the(l) marking. My understanding is that as long as your sprockets are aligned to the TDC and the crank divet is at the engine block dimple I should be good..Moreover, that the markings on the belt will eventually aligned themselves. Can anyone enlighten me.Thanks.

The markings on the belt only align with the markings on the cams, crank and tdc markings once every hundred and something rotations. Cannot remember the exact number. The reason is that the circumference of the cams, crank and belt are different. So they will only match when the total distance of belt travel is a number that all three can divide into with a whole number. But the markings on the cams and crank will align with the relevant marks every two rotations. As long as they do that, you should be good.

The markings on the belt are simply there to make sure it is installed properly, i.e everything is the correct number of teeth apart.

The link that @shifty` sent is generally agreed to be THE thread to read about the TB. Give that a read and hopefully that will set you straight.
