Timing belt and plugs at 178k miles

    just bought a Tundra at 178k miles. It’s never had the timing belt or plugs done!

    Started the job and figured I’d post pics.

    Belt looks perfect, but the scale building up around the pump seems to indicate that something bad was going to happen soon enough.

    4 of the plugs had growth. Ran great, but do your maintenance!

    All this talk of timing belts makes me wanna do mine. I'm pretty sure it's fine, but this looks like it would be fun.

    Make sure you have a strategy for getting that crank nut off!

    Probably worth paying $60 for the official tool. I did it with a 2x4, but would have saved a lot of time with the tool.

    It’s kind of fun, but I wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t necessary. It’s going to be a 10 hour job for me over two weekends

    That ought to work, you’ll have to pull the radiator though to make it fit. Jealous though
