Ive got a 2011 dbl cab 5.7 with 147k that was involved in a hail storm. Went to the adjuster yesterday and the damage was quoted at around $11,000.

Apparently the roof needs to be replaced as well as the hood and a good amount of PDR.

I was drawn to the truck initially because of its ability to hold value. If I were to repair the truck to the tune of this $11,000 would this effect the ability of the truck to be sold later on? I personally would probably pass on buying a used vehicle that had the roof cut off and welded back on but I also don’t know much about body work.

My question is should I just get the repairs done and trade this one towards a newer tundra? Or should I just keep it? I’ve never owned something brand new but with a 10 month old child the thought of a warranty is very appealing.

My current truck runs fine but there are some problems that it has just like with anything.

    Any advice is appreciated!

I had this same issue with my Taco. Hail damage that required roof repair and PDR. Did the fix since the insurance paid for it and traded it in 2 weeks after I git it back. If you look to trade in a vehicle with hail damage I'm sure the dealer will deduct it from the value anyway. So might as well get it fixed (on a side note, does your insurance offer rental car while your truck is in the shop? If not, might wanna take that expense into account)
