I have a new 2023 1794. The steering wheel is crooked to the left slightly. It does not pull to either side. The steering wheel just sits to the left slightly when driving straight and it annoys the hell out of me.

I took it in to the dealership and they say the alignment measures fine. And the advisor said something about Toyota not having the specs yet for the alignment and steering column which makes no sense to me. Does anyone else have this issue?

    Lots of stuff!
When I got my levelling kit installed, I asked the tech to align the wheels and the steering wheel. Mine has the little red bit at the top so any leaning to one side would drive me crazy. They finished the job and the red bit points straight up.

This helps me drive straight. :)

Thanks. I'm about to get a lift on it and hopefully they will fix it. Not sure why Toyota can't.

@ziznack. I had to have my steering wheel centered also. It drove down the road fine with no pulling to one side and tracked good when you took your hands off the wheel. Just needed to have steering wheel centered first then the alignment corrected after centering the wheel. This requires shortening tie rod on one side and lengthening it on the other side. My dealer said this is covered by Toyota the first 12 months/12000 miles. Recommend not saying it needs an alignment if you take it in. Tell them you want the steering wheel centered. And don’t let them tell you road crown causes it to be off center. Yes road crown can require steering correction to keep your truck going straight but sounds like yours is off center all the time including when the road is level.

True. I had to switch service advisors at my dealership. Made a huge difference. I booked appointment through the Toyota app and picked the advisor I wanted. Otherwise they kept sending me back to the same guy when I called to make an appointment.

I don't have issues with the advisor, I like him. But he says something about the specs for a 2023 being different than the 2022 and not having them yet. Not sure.

I'm getting a lift put on next week and they will do alignment. The advisor told me that should fix it.

But maybe someone can answer this. If Toyota doesn't have the specs for alignment yet, then how can anyone else do an alignment on it?

Here are published specs. Maybe Toyota changed the specs in 23.

That's for a 2022. Toyota specifically said that the 2023 is different.

A lot of places uses the Hunter Alignment machine, and most machines aren’t updated to latest model for Tundra. The specs has already been released by Toyota but some dealership are completely clueless, and some service advisor are just useless at their job, basically cashiers nowadays. The 2022 and 2023 are the same alignment specs. @PERRY1060 post was the original alignment specs that was release by Toyota and has been updated.

Thanks. Either way, I'm getting a lift next week and they will do an alignment so hopefully it is taken care of.

My wheel was also crooked. Didn't pull when driving or braking, just crooked. I took it into the dealer and they checked the alignment - almost everything was out of spec. They realigned everything and recentered the steering wheel. They told me a realignment within the first 12 months was covered under warranty, and I paid nothing.

I just called the dealer to schedule an appointment. Picked up my truck from Ohio and drove it home to Philly. Entire ride the wheel to the left drove my OCD crazy

AH!!! I have taken mine in twice now. The last time I specifically said I didn't need an alignment just the wheel centered. They still wanted to do an alignment and then had my car all day because it had been in twice before... They got it more centered but not where I want it.

Sorry they aren’t dialing it in for you. Technically they do have to do an alignment to center the steering wheel. The tech doing the work needs to center the steering wheel and lock it in position with a special tool BEFORE he starts making any adjustments. If he eye balls it and doesn’t lock down the wheel it will be pure luck if it stays centered. They often have to adjust the toe so they are already adjusting the tie rods. Asking them to specifically center the wheel just draws their attention to locking the steering wheel in place on center.

i will admit I have a hard time finding a good alignment shop where I live. Or the tech is good but they haven’t had their machine calibrated in a long time. The alignment machine actually has to be aligned/calibrated regularly. The only other possibility is the steering wheel was mounted one spline off center from the factory. Good luck. You may need to go somewhere else if it still bothers you.

I had exactly the same problem. ..had to steer slightly to the left to go straight. On a 2023 1794 TRD.
Using the TSB that @ryanwgregg posted I took it to dealer in Boise ID and they updated the alignment for free. They did tell me that it's Toyota policy to do free alignments (of just about any type, not limited to wheel alignment) for the first year.
After the updated alignment it drives and steers straight like any vehicle should.

Thanks for the info. I'm getting a lift next week which includes an alignment, so I assume that will fix it?

The fact that the lift place can do an alignment and that the service advisor told me that when the donan alignment it will fix it, leads me to believe that the advisor just doesn't want to have Toyota do the alignment cause it's so new. Basically he is lying to me.
