Ticking noise seems to be coming from center of bell housing in the front anyone else experience this and have any insight as to what it ended up being? Brand new truck 150 miles on it.

Take it to the dealer. Two reasons. First, it's under warranty. Second, when they say it's normal you can ask them to reproduce it on one of the lot trucks. If they can't, it's not normal and you press your case. If they can, it may very well be a normal sound of the vehicle.

It’s non hybrid my first take on this was either low oil or low trans fluid and it was perhaps a pump making the low pressure noise. I know they had issues with this on an earlier version; for now I’m going to top everything off in the a.m let it hit temp and see what happens. I’m used to the old ticks and click clacks of the older models this is different. I did have the dealer start 3 other trucks on the lot and none of them made the same noise as this. Crossing my fingers it’s low a low fluid thing right from the factory. I hate for a brand new truck to have to start being pulled apart right off. I have heard horror stories about the new dodges excuse me rams dropping transmissions right out of the gate.

Do you all that have these 3rd gen tundras like them so far? The ride is great power seems on point. Hopefully the reliability stays true also. The one I have is limited non hybrid trd off road pack. I wish the seats folded all the down like the first gen’s still that was a cool feature no one else did.

Why are you trying to fix it yourself? All of the fluids should be correct as is. Let the dealer troubleshoot and do their job

I’m letting the dealer look at it they are the one we who wanted to try topping off the fluid first.

It may very well be the bed. There is a thread floating around about the bed to frame being metal to metal. I have the same tick on my non hybrid. I have crawled all around it and can't get it to stop. Dealer is useless. My next step is to try the fix for the bed to frame with a delran washer. Seems easy enough.

Interesting I crawled under it and the noise is definitely coming from the front of the bell housing and only at idle. Topping fluids made no difference not surprisingly. Dealer is saying I can’t drive it now because the transmission might fail…nothing like buying a brand new truck and having it sit in the shop for repairs.

Same truck as you but ‘23. No tick. Love it. Maybe just a torque converter. Lots of moving parts inside. Maybe they’ll just try that first, converter swap, or hopefully a trans and converter together. ( Hope they don’t just swap the trans only) Good Luck. Sorry, yes, that’s a bummer.

For those with odd noises, my father taught me a poor man's stethoscope trick. Just cut about a 3 foot section of old garden hose and put one end to your ear and move the other end all around the area of the noise. I've used this trick to isolate many noises on my vehicles over the years.

Fortunately, my 2023 1794 is so quiet, I often can't tell it's running from just a few feet away.

So I went for a walk around the shop with the service manager….this was eye opening…four tundras all with cabs pulled off engines and or transmission failures…all under 5000 miles….thats terrible the more I read about these the more issues I’m finding they have! I hate that they have allowed quality to drop off this much even after limiting production and price increases. I always had Toyota trucks since my first gen 1982 pick up..this might be last of this trend continues

Pretty much all vehicles equipped with EVAP system do all kinds of loud and strange ticking. My old Volvo ticks loud when cold. The layout of engine compartment is favorable and allowed for putting a finger on all valves, finding the one ticking and verifying in docs that this is an EVAP purge valve and it is supposed to work this way when the system starts in cold weather.

My Gen2 Tundra has occasional ticking/clicking under the bed, strangely with the engine off. It interrupts my sleep in the wild :) This is EVAP system working, too.

As long as it's not bearings or rod knock, it'll be alright.

My 2024 “ticks” but it’s in 3’s, or thereabouts. I only notice it in a drive through

same thing happened when I bought my 2016 WRX, they had gone to a new motor, 2.0 direct injection turbo….people were sending chunks of rods thru the block left and right! 105,000 miles later I haven’t had one single issue with the car.

whats crazy is people are upset because Toyota has a reputation for reliability. Nobody cares about their POS big three car because there isn’t even the expectation of reliability, LOL.

Four in one shop at the same time (no doubt waiting for parts) Many shops still haven’t had one engine swap. Would you share what city or general area this is in? Thx

Now that trucks are MSRP over $70,000, they care quite a bit more.

I have owned fords, dodge(when they were still dodge), Toyota pickups over the years never had a had a vehicle go from the sales lots to the service lift to tear apart a motor or transmission I don’t care who the manufacturer is that is complete shit.

Don’t feel bad. My airbag light was on the day I drove it off the lot two years ago. Been on and off twice a month.

Coop, I am having a similar issue. What ever came of yours? My shop has not seen the issue yet and they have opened a case with corporate. Noise showed up with less than 200 miles.
