First time poster. I recently bought my son a 2004 Tundra and having issues with the throttle body staying powered up after shutting off the engine. You can hear it actually buzz or a high pitched tone. I have put a new on and and have go through the relearn procedure to no avail. It will actually run the battery down overnight. Any help would be greatly appreciated, at my wits end with this thing.

Damn ... there was someone on here with those same symptoms, and pulling a specific fuse made it stop, and that was a big clue to the solution. Hell if I can remember who/what it was though. Let me see if I can search it out.

Is this what yours sounds like? https://www.tundras.com/threads/video-weird-no-start-buzzing-sound.87857/

In his case it was the starter. ONLY BUY DENSO BRAND (or OEM) if you replace yours. This is one place you don't want to fuck around. Don't make me dig up threads of others who chose not to heed this warning.

Would be curious if the buzzing dies when you pull the starter relay inside the fuse/relay box next to the battery. Reference the lid for its location.

Shifty, I have installed a new starter as it was actually going bad when we bought. Yeah I’m an OEM guy, no matter what I have learned those lessons long ago. I will check tomorrow to see if it stops when pulling the starter relay. I unplugged the throttle body and it certainly stops making the tone.

Does the whine in the videos of the thread I linked in reply #4 above sound the same as yours?

    Checked your grounds and terminals?
    Checked fuses and relays?
Checked the condition of the pins and harness integrity for the TB harness?
Does the buzzing go away when you unplug the TB harness?

I'll need to look in the EWDs linked up in the mega info dump thread to see how the TB is powered, if it stops when you umplug power to the TB. If it's still doing it between two totally different TB assemblies, it clearly must be in the wiring, or you're misinterpreting the source of the buzzing.

Will definitely check grounds today. Have replaced relay’s with Factory and or Densco.
    Thanks again!

Shifty, the sound does not sound like the video. The sound does go away when I remove the connection at the throttle body. I have not checked the connections to the TB which is kinda stupid because I have had it disconnected 2 dozen times now…

OK, let me ask you this, pardon all the extra questions, it's all anyone here can do not being there in person:

With the new TB, did you replace or reuse your TPS (throttle position sensor)? And is that what you're unplugging to make the noise go away?

Did you clean either TB at any point? If yes, what did you use for cleaning? When cleaning, did you spray liquid into the TB, or spray onto something, then wipe?

Did you attempt to perform a throttle relearn with the old and/or new TB assembly? Details here, but read all replies, as there may be a discrepancy in the 1st post.

Did you, at any point, remove the negative battery cable for 10+ minutes to force the ECU to relearn?

No problem will answer to best of my abilities, ask away. As stated earlier I installed and new TB and the picture I have attached shows the connector in which I remove to stop the noise. All I removed the old and installed the new TB. I have done the relearn procedure you have posted from earlier a couple of times without change. The boy will go work on his truck and forget to unplug the TB and the battery will be dead so numerous forced relearns. I bought this truck for $2k with 159k miles on it, project for him and I to do together. Teach him how to use tools basically. The Throttle position sensors is part of it correct? The new one I installed was plug and play for a lack of better terms.

Throttle body position sensor is part of the throttle body for 2004 (and later years I believe). Here are the relevant pages from the FSM if it helps...

Looks like I have a break in continuity on E2 from the throttle body connector to the ECM connector. Gives me something to look for now…
Thanks for all the information fellas!
