My 2020 Tundra Platinum was t-boned and totaled, but fortunately I ended up finding a decent (I think) deal on a 2024 Tundra 1794 Limited Edition. I was going to buy a 2021 Tundra, but the ones near me with low miles were in the 50k range, and as much as I love the 5.7, I couldn't spend that much money on a previous generation. I still have my Sequoia, so I get to experience both options daily. I was pretty hesitant to buy after reading all the issues here, but in the end, I'm glad I made the switch. I think this truck is definitely the nicest vehicle I've ever owned, and after comparing it to the competition (Chevy, Ford, Ram), it is the best truck on the market, for my preferences at least.

Things I like better about the 2nd gen-

    1) The V8 just sounds better.
    2) Turning radius. Really, the turning radius is so much worse on the 3rd gen I'm not really sure what's going on.
    3) Felt like I had more usable interior storage.

Things I like better about the 3rd gen-

    1) Interior styling is perfect. They really did a great job, the sight-lines and visibility are good, the seats are comfortable, quality of most things seems decent.
    2) Technology. I was always against this, as it's just more things to break, but I can't lie it's pretty amazing. I hated the digital camera rear view, but now I've become accustomed to it, it's great to have a clear view out the back no matter what. That huge screen in the middle is great, works flawlessly so far.
    3) Ride comfort. I'm not sure if it's just because of the LE package, but this thing rides so well I forget I'm in a truck. My Sequoia with air suspension is better, but between my 2nd gen Tundra and this one, it's not even close. I imagine those with the air/AVS package on the Tundra are even better off.
    4) Acceleration. The hype is real.

Things I wish were better about the 3rd gen-

    1) Wind noise at speed. I know it's been documented over and over and over again here, but the seal around my drivers door is terrible. Over 65 and it's like I have a window open. I am certain Toyota will fix this...at some point. Otherwise, the cabin is very quiet.
    2) Aforementioned turning radius. It is rough getting used to backing the old Tundra and Sequoia in, and then transitioning to the new one.
    3) Hybrid system braking when coming to a slow, like going around a corner. I've never owned a hybrid, I read this is the regen braking maybe?
    4) Lag when accelerating from a full stop. I've gotten into some tricky situations where I go to accelerate and nothing happens from a full stop until I am a bit into the pedal, at which point I launch like a rocket. Maybe this is the hybrid system also?

Overall, I absolutely love this truck and don't regret a minute of it. I was firmly in the "never getting rid of my 5.7" camp before, but I am glad I gave it a chance. I know something could happen to the engine, but I also know Toyota will make it right. Trucks have so many issues across the board, and you go to Ford or Chevy or Ram forums and the complaining is endless. Toyota makes it right, I am certain of that and that's why they get my money.
