Does an exhaust that is dumped before rear axle hurt low end power torque?

    Dumped BEFORE the axle sucks.

Dumped AFTER doesn't produce as much extra torque as a factory length tail pipe, but it's still a net gain if you have a BAMuffler system. You will want the extra long resonator that Keith makes for the over the axle cut & dump.

Another vote for dumped over the axle.

Thank you for the input guys. I got an odd combo. I have Doug Thorley LT's and a modded JBA mid pipe w/flanges at the stock location (w/cat). The DD cat-back after that. Then the stock tailpipe. The 2.75 stock tailpipe seems like a big bottle-neck. I want to make the best out it.

I have been considering modding the Y-pipe at the end of the DD cat-back to a 3" or 3.5" pipe, dump, over the axle, or complete tailpipe.

Total area of different exhaust diameters are:
    1. stock 2.75 tailpipe is: 5.9" (square inches)
    2. 3" Y-pipe back is: 7.1"
    3. 3.5" Y-pipe back is: 9.6"
    4. Dual TRD (2.25" pipes) is: 7.9"
    5. Dual 2.5 all the way back is: 9.8"

I got the Thorley's cheap, and I can put the 4 cats in the stock location. Though not like JBA's & a killer DD 3" set up. It still gives you a big boost (https://www.tundratalk.net/threads/...h-off-road-mid-pipes-and-x-pipe-40-hp.136961/).

    What ya' think?

Now that I added that more information, I think my title for this thread should have been:

I have this same setup, cut in the same place. EXCEPT I do not use the resonator, absolutely love it
