First, get your mind out of the gutter.

I recently purchased a 2017 Tundra Platinum, it spent its first two years in Canada and a year in MI before coming South for the last 5 years.

When I checked it out, I knew it had more rust than a Southern truck, but it wasn’t horrible, other than the front backing plates they are rough. But can certainly tell it’s been north.

Today I replaced the rear shocks with 4600’s, I had soaked the top nuts in Deep Creep for a week, but I knew it was gonna be a problem. They broke loose quickly but just wouldn’t come off.

A big time saver was I got a good 5/16 drill bit and drilled a hole in one side of the nut, turned the nut 180 degrees and drilled another hole through it.

I then soaked it in Deep Creep through both holes, you could see the rust running out.

I would then clamp on the shaft and turn the nut as far as I could, once it would resist, I would spray the holes again and the rust would come running out, this worked like a charm.

The holes give somewhere for the rust to go.

Some of you Yankees may already do this, if not, try it!

I just made it up today, at least to me, and it was great.

    Figured it might help someone.

The bottom bolt and nut were absolutely no issue, just the top.

Fuel delete mod Cup holder upgrade
A little lube and a wire brush will get them back to their glory.
