    Hello,

I have been watching the forums for some time and decided to join the family. I have a question about installing a Thinkware rear camera in the bed with a snug top camper.

What I am aiming at doing is mount the camera to the snug top glass part of the camper but can’t figure out how to route the cable to the main unit in the cab. I have looked all over the truck but can’t find a entry point into the cab.

    Has anyone completed this?

I think the best bet is the Engine Bay Firewall, I have looked for other entry points and none are easy. @TundraTex did a video on setting up a FRAC system, his video show's where there is an access point. This is a 3rd Gen, but it should be similar for the 2nd. At 7:30 they run the camera wire through the firewall on the passenger side grommet. This is a front camera, but would work for your rear camera too.

Yea, I have looked at the drain holes along the doors and they are not easy to fish it through, bla.

Do you live in salt country? One of the easiest things to do is make a hole and put a grommet in that you can run the wire through. If you live in salt country you will have to make sure to protect the bare steel very well. The other option would be more work would be to use the factory wire harness. Depending on the year of your truck it could go to your radio or to your overhead console. For the rear of the truck you could get the wire that plugs into the factory harness and convert the other end to work with the camera.

I went ahead and put the camera in the back window as I couldn’t find any options to put it in the camper at this time. However I might drill a hole later to fix it.
