My old running boards rusted away after 2 years so took them off.
So, recently took the ladies at work to lunch and everyone climbed into the truck all complained about not having a step or running board to help get in. (Geesh..not like this truck is lifted 36 inches. I never had a need for them as Im pretty tall. )
I was then looking to install some running boards on the side of the Tundra and hated the looks out there. Most of the after-markets look like someones' strapped a toboggan or sea kayak to the under carriage. Big and clunky- way too much. I wanted low profile- slim-n-trim look.

At my shop we had some stainless steel handrail tubes. 2" x 1.5" x 3/16" thick walls. Solid Perfect. These are already powder coated matte black. I bought some running board mounting brackets. A little drill and tap work , some stainless bolts, custom end caps, silicone sealed. and installed. Put some anti-skid tape on top and turned out the way I wanted. Slim-n-trim. Wont rust away after one winter and solid as a tank.
